Project 2.0 should have been blogged about sooner but I had no real idea on where to take the idea until recently.
I may start embedding audio clips of ideas and discussions, but my voice is a bit boring to listen to so I’ll try to summarise if/when I need to.
To start with the breif requires me to think of my own project and develop an idea based on that. Not so helpful when someone like myself can rarely decide what to have for breakfast. Anyway, in the 1st lecture we were introduced to the project and given a deadline for the proposal in week 3’s workshop. The idea is to think up multiple ideas that can be developed into actual projects, though “Any idea that starts with: ‘I’m going to design an [app, website, game, etc]’ should be scrapped” so that removes part of the problem of trying to make an overly complicated project.
So over the past two weeks I’ve been thinking of ideas, I could of decided to continue my R&D and develop my research into NFC to create a solution to how bad the registration system might be (I still think signing paper is a waste of paper and ink buuut…) but this raised a slight issue with like how I know nothing about app design or anything like that. I know how to make a tag tell the receiver to go to an asset but beyond that I have no real idea. Secondly if I was designing a new registration system I’d need to make a database of students before making it so the database could be referenced and edited, and so on before actually providing an idea on “This is how it should work” and trying it out. Since I would do this project on my own I’d need to fund the equipment and it would probably of left a student that looks remarkabley similar to me crying under a desk. Sooo…
I thought up two more ideas, well one more and I borrowed one off of a competition website.
The idea I borrowed is to redesign the branding for Adobe Creative Cloud, which I was looking into, but the design on the current branding is pretty clear and user friendly and the only way I oculd think of making it suitable for future users would be to make it more childish and use curved lines… Soo I cut that idea out, as much as it would be nice to see my branding designs used I don’t think I’d improve the branding much at all.
Now onto my final idea. To make a showreel. The problem that needs to be solved is the lack of a showreel but with the VFX industry being difficult to get a job in, as with many other industries it would make sense to prove to an employer or even a client that I have the skills and knowledge to create solutions to a variety of issues like not having the right location and so on.
